5 year anniversary, summer and the zoo

awww I want one!!!
Its official, we have now lived in the States for 5 years. WOW its amazing. I was almost sure we would go home at some point even though we didnt want to. But no we are still here and loving every second. I know my mum would be so proud, bless her soul.

Its also the official end of school YAY - Im thrilled. Im thrilled to have my babies home all day fighting, arguing and bickering. But thats OK. Emma is done with elementary school and will start middle school with Elizabeth in September and I get a full hour extra sleep, YAY!! no more 6:30am starts - suits me!!

To celebrate our first day of summer we headed to Michigan City. I love it there, lots to do, zoo, beach and great shopping and only an hour drive.

We skipped the beach this time, my foot isnt upto walking on sand yet, so we headed straight to Washington Park zoo. I love this little zoo, although theres some considerably steep inclines to navigate. Its the only zoo Ive been to that has three tigers in the very first enclosure. Usually they are well hidden in zoos and it takes a while before u stumble upon them. Having children, we are very well versed in zoos. My favourite is La Palmyre zoo in France.

For a small zoo, it has some fairly exotic animals ranging from bears to goats, miniature horses to American bald eagles and alligators to Capuchin monkeys, its a great place.

We enjoyed an icecream, before heading into the bird enclosure. You can buy a seed stick for a dollar to tempt the birdies to sit on your hands. If you are patient enough you might get two, like Elizabeth did :)
